Question: I have a Windows Small Business Server 2003. The hard drive is 30GB
with 10GB allocated to C: drive and 20GB for D: partition. Now C: drive is extremely
full but D: almost empty. In snap-in Disk Management, right click on C: drive and
there is no "Extend Volume" feature. I know dynamic disk has this feature, so I
converted to dynamic disk and all volumes are shown as simple volume. I deleted D:
volume so it became unallocated space. However, when I attempted to extend C: drive,
I received the error message: "The selected volume is a system or boot disk or was
created on a basic disk in an earlier version of Windows and cannot be
Reasons: You cannot extend a system volume, boot volume, striped volume, mirrored volume, or RAID-5 volume on dynamic disk. You can only extend simple or spanned volumes that are not system or boot volumes, as long as there is available disk space. This includes volumes created as dynamic volumes or created as basic volumes and then upgraded to dynamic in Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003 Operating Systems.
For this problem, the best solution is to use AOMEI Partition Assistant Server Edition which can directly extend system volume on dynamic disk without losing data via its snap-in dynamic disk manager tool.

How to extend system volume on dynamic disk for Windows Server 2003?
Firstly, run AOMEI Partition Assistant Server as administrator.
If there is no contiguous unallocated space behind system volume, you can shrink volume to generate it; if the unallocated space
is separated by volume slice, you can use "Move Volume Slice Wizard" to make
unallocated space be behind system volume. Right click system volume and select "Resize/Move
Volume" once there is some contiguous unallocated space.
