Before You Do

You have four things to prepare:

  • Your computer with Windows OS installed.

  • SD card belongs to your smart phone and you have to backup data on it in case of your valuable data get lost.

  • SD card reader.

How to Create Second Partition on SD Card for Link2SD?

In order to Partition SD card in Windows computer, you have to delete all partitions on SD card and create partitions on it. So, make sure you have backed up the data you have stored before on SD card to a safe place with AOMEI Backupper.

Step 1: Insert SD card into SD card reader, connect SD card reader with your computer, and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant. On the main console, click the SD card and select "Delete Partition" at the left panel, or right click the SD card and choose "Delete Partition" at the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Tick "Delete partition quickly" to delete partition as unallocated space, and then hit "OK" back to main window.

Step 3: Confirm the result of the deletion for SD card by clicking "Apply".

Create 2nd Partition on SD card for Link2SD

Step 1: On the AOMEI Partition Assistant main interface, click the SD card and select "Create Partition" or right click the SD card, then choose "Create Partition".

Step 2: Drag the double-arrow leftwards at the proper location to specify the size of new partition, select the right file system, and then press "OK" to continue.

Step 3: Click "Apply" to create the first partition on SD card.

Step 4: Then create 2nd partition on the remaining unallocated space, and customize the file system. Then hit "OK".

Note: The second partition has no drive letter due to the reason that Windows can only recognize the first partition on a removable drive.


Step 5: Look through the "Pending Operations" and click "Apply" on the toolbar to create 2nd partition on SD card.

After a few seconds, you will find the second partition on SD card has been successfully created. Then you could move programs and apps to the second partition with Link2SD to free up the space of internal memory.
