User case: Kenshi keeps crashing

“Hey guys, I like Kenshi, but now I can’t seem to be able to play all night without 2 or 3 crashes. During the game, everything will be frozen and unresponsive, and I will hear a constant buzzing sound from my computer. Sometimes Kenshi crashes when it loads, and sometimes it crashes when Kenshi startup. Before it was very smooth, almost no crashes. If anyone can help me, I will be very happy. I like this game, but can't stand these terrible crashes.”

How to solve Kenshi crashing?

The following will show you 5 ways to fix Kenshi crashing.

Method 1. Fix Kenshi crashing by changing game settings

Games like Kenshi have very high requirements for computer performance. In this case, only the high configuration of the PC can guarantee the normal operation of the game. Fortunately, PCs with relatively low configurations can reduce the performance requirements of the game by changing the game settings, but this will sacrifice the picture quality of your game.

Therefore, if you want to fix Kenshi crashes on your PC, you need to make the following changes in the game settings:

►Disable shadows, texture details, town civilians, reflections and other options.

►Set all viewing distances to the maximum value.

►Disable vertical synchronization.

Method 2. Increase hard drive space

Insufficient hard drive space where the game is located is an important cause of Kenshi crashing. You can use the Allocate Free Space function of AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional to directly extend the hard drive space. This is a professional disk management software (highly recommended for Windows 10/8/7/XP/Vista users). In addition, there are more functions such as: Partition alignment, Move Application from one partition to another. You can download the Demo for trial first.

Download Demo Win 10/8.1/8/7/XP
Secure Download

Step 1. Install and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro. Then open it, you will see all the disks and partitions on your computer on the main page.

Step 2. Find the disk where Kenshi is located, and then select a partition with more free space on the same disk. Right-click the partition(take D as an example), and select “Allocate Free Space”.

Step 3. On this page, you can allocate free space from the selected partition to the partition installed by Kenshi(take C as an example). After setting, click “OK”.

Step 4. You can already see that the space of C drive has been enlarged. Click “Apply” to submit the operation.

Method 3.Verify the integrity of game files

As we all know, if the game file is damaged, the file is incomplete, it will affect the performance of the game, which may also be one of the reasons for the Kenshi crashing. So when this happens, it is necessary to verify the integrity of game files.

We can use Steam to check Kenshi for game file corruption. And if Steam finds any problems, it will automatically repair or download the necessary files to fix the Kenshi crashing.

The specific steps are as follows:

●Start Steam.
●Go to the “Library” tab.
●Find Kenshi from the list of games on the left side of the screen.
●Right click on Kenshi and select properties.
●Go to the “Local Files” tab and click the “Verify the integrity of game files” button.

Steam will check the game files on your PC and compare them with the files available on the Steam server. If you are missing any files, Steam will automatically download the missing files/folders to your computer after the process is complete.

Method 4.Install the repair patch

Installing patches can help you fix some problems. On the NEXUSMODS website, a user uploaded a MOD, this MOD fixes some crashes and reminds the corrupted save file. You can click “Files”to download.

After the download is complete, please follow the instructions below to install:

Step 1. Copy all the files in the document to the Kenshi installation folder (the folder where Kenshi_x64.exe is located).

Step 2. If the installation is successful, a beep will sound immediately after startup (before the MOD menu window appears).

Step 3. There may be no startup sound on some PCs, but if “Kenshi fix1.log” is generated, it will work.

Method 5. Change HDD to SSD

Solid State Drives have a faster reading and writing speed than traditional HDD. If Kenshi is installed on HDD, then you can upgrade HDD to SSD. This is an effective measure to solve Kenshi crashing, or even computer freeze or crash.

Similarly, with the help of AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro, you can clone the entire HDD to the SSD without risk.

Secure Download

Step 1. In the main interface of AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional. Click “Clone” and then “Clone Disk” on the top side.

Step 2. Here we select “Clone Disk Quickly” as an example.

“Clone Disk Quickly” only copies the used sectors to the destination location, allowing the target disk smaller than the total size of the source disk.
Sector-by-Sector Clone” will copy all sectors to the target disk, so the destination disk must be equal to or larger than the source disk.

Step 3. Select the SSD you want to clone as the destination disk and click “Next”.

Tip: You can tick "Optimize the performance of SSD" to improve the reading and writing speed of SSD.

Step 4. Now, you can edit partition size on the SSD drive, and hit on “Next”to continue.

Note: you can choose Clone without resizing partition”, “Fit partition to entire diskor “Edit partition on this disk”. After finishing the adjustment, please clickNext”. When you cloning to smaller SSD, the first option is grayed out.

Step 5. Click “Finish”.

Step 6. In the main interface, click Apply” and “Proceedto start cloning HDD to SSD.
