My Playstation 4's storage is full already

I have a PS4. Today, I got Wolfenstein. I tried to play it but my PS4 said the storage was full, it was only off by a bit. Every single disk game that I have takes up a lot of install storage and I have few PS4 games right now so I am sure this will get more annoying when I get more games. I suppose the only way to get more memory is by deleting other games? I don't want to uninstall them to reinstall next time. Is there a PS4 partition resize tool helping me extend it?"

About PS4

PS4, short for PlayStation 4, is a home game console. It was the successor to PS3 and released by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2014. You can enjoy various entertainments on PS4, such as playing big games, watching videos, listening to music, etc. To get better experience on PS4, you are supposed to know its basic features:

SONY sets FAT32 and exFAT as the standard file system for PS4 (PS3 only supports FAT32). So if you find your PS4 can't read a USB drive, maybe it's because the USB has NTFS file system, and you could convert NTFS to FAT32 or exFAT to fit PS4 in advance.
The PlayStation 4 has a storage of 500 GB. To check the space condition, you could run your console and go to "Setting" > "System Storage Management". Then, you will see how much is consumed and how much is left.

Although PS4 has been favored by many game lovers for its premium performance, it also exists some potential problems. For example, what most users complain about is the PS4 storage full problem. These days, the size of an individual game becomes larger and larger, so storage space of 500GB seems not enough, and you will find your PS4 is full quickly even if you have only installed several games. This may trigger you to seek a PS4 partition resize tool to extend the partitions.

Can you expand space on PS4?

If you want to extend your PS4 partition, please make sure there are no less than two partitions on your PS4 hard drive and meanwhile, at least one of the partitions has more free storage space. We have talked about that PS4 is only compatible with FAT32 and exFAT file system, so you can't use Windows built-in features to extend PS4 partition. This is because both DiskPart and Disk Management only support resizing NTFS partitions. Therefore, you need to find a third-party tool to resize PS4 partition. Keep reading, you will get what you want.

Best PS4 partition resize tool - AOMEI Partition Assistant

To break the limitations of DiskPart and Disk Management, we recommend you to use AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional, a versatile and reliable PS4 partition resize tool Windows 10, 8, 7, and the newest Windows 11. It can not only allow you to shrink or extend partitions on PS4 hard drive, but also format partition larger than 32 GB to FAT32 if you need. Below I will show you the detailed steps to resize PS4 partitions.

Note: Since the main problem you usually meet is insufficient space on the PS4 hard drive, the latter content will focus on how to enlarge a partition.

Step 1. Connect your PS4 hard drive to the computer. Install and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant on the PC, right-click the partition which you want to allocate free space from and select "Allocate Free Space". (Here is D drive.)

Step 2. Then, type in the size of the free space which you want to cut from D partition and this free space will be directly added into the destination partition. (For example below: I will allocate 243.81 GB's free space from D partition to C partition.)

Step 3. Finally, click "Apply" to execute this operation. In the pop-out window, you can see how much time it will cost you to finish this operation.

How do I transfer PS4 hard drive to SSD?

At the previous content, we have talked about the situation where there are multiple partitions on PS4 disk and at least one partition has free space, and then you are taught how to realize PS4 partition resize without formatting. What if there is only one partition on your PS4 hard drive or there is not any free storage space on the disk? Don't worry! You can consider replacing the old 500GB PS4 hard drive with a 1TB HDD/SSD or even a larger one. (Compared SSD with HDD, the former one is more recommended.)

Since it's a time-consuming job to reinstall all your games from scratch, the easiest way is to transfer all the data from the old disk to the new one before installing the new large hard drive on your PS4 to replace the original full one. But how can you transfer PS4 hard drive to new SSD at one time? Luckily, AOMEI software is not only a PS4 partition resize tool, but also a powerful disk manager which can give you the best data transfer experience.

To better satisfy user's needs, this software supports 2 kinds of clone methods: one is "Clone Disk Quickly" which clones only used space so as to save space on the target disk; the other is "Sector by Sector clone" that clones all sectors to the other disk whether used or not. Let's see how to clone a disk to another within only a few steps.

Step 1. Connect the old smaller PS4 or PS3 hard drive and the larger SSD with your computer, make sure these two can be recognized by Windows.

Step 2. Run the software, go to "Clone" and "Clone Disk".

Step 3. Select a method to copy, "Clone Disk Quickly" or "Sector-by-Sector Clone", then press "Next".

Step 4. Choose the smaller PS4 or PS3 hard drive as source disk to copy, hit "Next"select-source-disk

Step 5. Select the larger SSD as the destination disk to store all the data from PS3/4 hard drive, and click "Next". (Please ensure you have ticked the "Optimize the performance of SSD" option to improve the read and write speed of SSD.)

Step 6. Edit the partition size on the larger SSD drive, then click "Next" to go on.

Step 7. Click "Apply" and "Proceed" to upgrade PS4 or PS3 hard drive to larger hard drive(SSD/HDD) by cloning.

After a few minutes, you will finish the operation of cloning PS4 hard drive to a larger SSD without losing data. Then, don't forget to insert the new hard drive into PS4 to experience the larger and faster disk.

Conclusion

What if your PS4 is running out of storage space? Apart from extending partition via a professional PS4 partition resize tool, another effective and efficient way is to upgrade PS4 hard drive to a larger HDD/SSD. From this passage, no matter which method you tend to apply, AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional can always be there to make a difference. In addition, its "OS migration" , "Partition Recovery" and "MBR2GPT converter" functions are welcomed at home and abroad.
