Windows Server 2008 is one of Microsoft operating
systems that specially designed for server users released on February 27, 2008 following
its predecessor Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2008 is based on Windows NT 6.x
just like Windows 7 and Windows Vista. From Windows Server 2003 to 2008,
many functions have been added or improved with high-level security.
Windows Server 2008 was the most powerful and reliable server operation
system at that time.
First,Win Server 2008 has an option for a variation of
installation called Server Core. All configuration and maintenance will be done
through command-line interface. Server Core does not have the features that not
closely related to server, it greatly provides more convenience to server
administers.
Second, Windows Server 2008 Standard also has self-healing NTFS
function. As we all know, if corruption happens in file system on NTFS
volume, it can only be corrected offline in the Windows operation
system before. This time, Microsoft brings us a new feature. An NTFS worker thread
will be spawned in the background to detect and fix the corruption automatically. It
does not require the system to be shut down.
Windows System Resource Manager is another new feature added in Windows
Server 2008 tools. Windows System Resource Manager enables users to manage
CPU and memory utilization on a per process basis. It can allocate a resource among
applications according to defined policy.
There are also other important new features with Windows Server 2008, but considering
