Windows 11 Requirements

As you can see, Microsoft’s Windows 11 hardware requirements have written that at least 64GB of storage is required to install Windows 11, and more storage will be required if you need to update or enable special features. This may not be a very accurate number, as this minimum disk space requirement is to better ensure Windows 11 runs.

Since Windows 11 was released on October 5, 2020, there are many Windows users who want to experience this latest Windows operating system. But many people may want to ask how much storage space does Windows 11 take up? Especially for SSD users, as SSD doesn't provide as much storage space as HDD.

If you're really attention to Windows 11 storage space, then you need to know how much space Windows 11 take on SSD. Unless you have a lot of free space in your SSD, you may face issues like storage or running slowly if you don't have enough space for work to run Windows 11. To avoid this situation, you need to ensure that there is enough space on the HDD/SSD.

How to leave enough space for installing Windows 11

If you are currently using Windows 10 and are distressed because you don't have enough space to upgrade to Windows 11, then you can read this part carefully as it will show you how to fix there is no enough space for Windows 11.

▶ Method 1. Merge partition

AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional is a powerful disk partition manager for Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP users. This is a tool that users love and can help users manage disks or partitions efficiently and in a timely.

Its “Merge Partition” combines two or more partitions to achieve the purpose of extending the partition space without losing data. In addition, it supports merging unallocated space that is not adjacent to the system drive, which breaks the limitations of Disk Management.

No matter how much space Windows 11 takes, you can choose one of these two methods to make your system drive have enough space to install Windows 11.

If you want to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, you have two options. One is to do a fresh install of Windows 11, but that tends to make you lose your current data! The other is to upgrade to Windows 11 via Windows Update without losing data. You just need to go to “Settings”> “Update and Security”> “Windows Update”, and then click “Check for Updates”. If available, you will see Windows 11 feature updates. Click Download and Install to complete.
