Need to transfer all the data, including OS to Toshiba SSD

As you know, SSD has advantages over HDD in many aspects especially in writing and reading speed. In such a circumstance, it is a great choice to speed up your computer by replacing your existing HDD with Toshiba SSD. However, replacing your HDD with SSD means that you’ll be trapped in reinstalling various applications and an operating system. To avoid this hassle, you can transfer all the content on HDD to Toshiba SSD via cloning your HDD to SSD. Then, how to clone HDD to Toshiba SSD?

Nowadays, many SSD manufacturers offer exclusive data migration tools for their own SSDs, Toshiba is no exception. When you purchase a new Toshiba SSD, NTI Echo - great data migration software for Toshiba SSD or HDD comes with it. NTI Echo can be used to duplicate your HDD to Toshiba SSD or HDD in Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/XP/Vista. You can use this Toshiba SSD cloning software to copy HDD to Toshiba SSD within a few steps below:

1. Run NTI Echo. Choose source disk and destination disk.  The "Source" dropdown box allows you to select the drive you want to clone while the "Destination" dropdown box allows you to select a different drive for the cloning.

2. Click on “Start” button and the cloning process will begin.

3. After the cloning process is over, swap out the hard drives and reboot the computer.

Tip: NTI Echo allows you to exclude files that you don’t want to copy to the target disk by clicking “Filter”. NTI Echo is featured with “Partition Cloning” and “Smart Cloning” as well.

Great alternative to NTI Echo for HDD to SSD cloning

It is obvious that NTI Echo is a useful data migration tool for Toshiba hard drive. However, it doesn’t support SSDs from other brands. Besides, it is possible that the cloning process interrupts when using NTI Echo to clone Windows system to Toshiba SSD or the error message “the instruction at ‘0x00c6bade’ referenced at memory 0x00000000” appears if your operating system is Windows 8.1. Thus, it is necessary to find an appropriate NTI Echo alternative to transfer all the data from HDD to Toshiba SSD. Here you can try third-party cloning software – AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional.

AOMEI Partition Assistant is a trusted and overall cloning tool with a concise user interface and powerful functions. It is specially designed for Windows operating system, including Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/XP/Vista. A detailed guide to clone hard disk drive to Toshiba SSD will be introduced next.

Firstly, you should connect the SSD to your PC and ensure that it can be detected by the system; backup the important files on destination SSD to another device; Then, you can follow the steps below (take cloning to smaller SSD as an example):

Step 2. Select a method to copy based on your own situation and click “Next” (here “Clone Disk Quickly” is selected).

Step 5. In this window, you are allowed to edit the partition size of the destination disk. Or you can let it be by default and resize partition after cloning. Then, click “Next.”

*There are three options for you to choose from. If you choose “Sector-by-Sector Clone, the edit options during the cloning process will disappear.

Keep the note about how to boot the operating system from the target disk in mind. Click “Finish”.

Step 6. You’ll return to the main interface. Check the pending operation and click “Apply”.

A reboot is required as this process has to be finished under PreOS Mode.
Swap out your hard drives or change boot settings in BIOS to boot from destination SSD.
If the target SSD size is smaller than the used space of the source disk, you can clone OS partition to SSD.
If you are cloning MBR to GPT disk, or GPT to MBR disk, you have to change boot mode from Legacy BIOS to UEFI, or UEFI to Legacy so as to boot OS successfully.

With simple clicks, AOMEI Partitions Assistant Professional enables you to clone HDD to Toshiba SSD or HDD. In fact, it enjoys many other functions such as allocating free space, splitting partition, converting dynamic disk into basic without data loss, which can bring you much convenience. If you are using Windows Server operating system, please go for AOMEI Partition Assistant Server instead.
