Why do you need secure file transfer software?

Secure file transfer

Data security now is a hot spot all over the world since there are many data attack events in recent years. More and more users start to focus on their data safety, especially for companies and giant enterprises.

Not all files can or need to be transferred by the Internet, sometimes, users also need to transfer data from one drive to another location to separate and classify data. This may remind you of the most traditional method: Copy & Paste.

In fact, this method is the most basic option when you want to move some normal small files or folders. If you wish to move some data files or folders from the User Profiles folders or move program files, Windows will proscribe the task. And even though you successfully move some of them, the relevant programs might not boot and run as normal because the system can find needed data from the original path.

Thus, if you need to move your files, folders, or even installed programs, you’d better turn to professional file transfers.

Secure file transfer program—AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro

If you happen to search for some secure file transfer solutions, AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional can give you a hand. It is a Windows disk and partition management tool with folder and programs moving feature that supports Windows 11/10/8/8.1/7/XP PC.

Actually, for all Windows users, AOMEI Partition Assistant has different editions for Windows Server users, enterprise users, and technic users. So, all Windows users can use this secure file transfer tool to move files to the target drive or disk safely and efficiently.

This tool carries 2 moving features, one is for folders, and the other is for installed programs, now we’ll show them separately with detailed steps in this part.

1. Move Folder

Before we start:
1. Please check if the target drive has sufficient free space to save all you move. If there’s a notice that tells you the space is insufficient, you need to extend drive space at first.
2. Please do not move or delete the files in the source and target directory, all settings will be modified by the tool.
3. This feature only runs between NTFS drives, if you want to move folders from or to a FAT32 drive, please convert to NTFS at first.

Step 1. Install and run AOMEI Partition Assistant, click “Free up” > “App Mover”.

Step 2. In the new window, click “Move Folder”.

Two options

Step 3. Select the folders you want to move. Choose the location drive under the window, and click “Move”.

Select Documents

Step 4. You will see a pop-up message to confirm forcibly closing running applications when moving starts. Click "OK" to begin the process.

After the move, if you regret it, you can restore all moved folders by clicking “Manage/Restore” in the window which shows the second step.

2. App Mover

If you wish to move program files, we suggest you directly move those programs by the “App Mover” feature to ensure that those programs can boot and run. It allows users to move numerous installed programs from one place to another, even to external disk, eliminating the need to reinstall them. The utility will modify all location information and ensure that your disk and system can find all necessary data files.

Step 1. In the feature options window, choose “App Mover” to continue.

Two options

Step 2. In the pop-up window, choose the partition that you want to free up via moving apps (here is partition C) and click “Next”.

Select partition

Step 3. In the window, all movable apps on the C drive will be listed. You can choose one or multiple apps that you need to move and the destination partition. Then click “Move” to execute the operation.

Tick apps

Step 4. Confirm that you have closed the apps that you will move from C drive to D drive. Then, click "OK".

OK

Step 5. Wait for the move process to complete. Then, click "Finish".

Finish

Then the move is finished. After the move, you can also run PC cleaner or "Delete Large Filles" to release more free space.
