Usually, many users have got an error just like “Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space…… ”. And this problem protects them from continuing the installation. Why does this happen? Is there something wrong with hard disk? These are the guesses thinking by the users. Actually, how to solve the problem depends on what detail error you have got. In the following, we will offer the way to each situation.

Situation1:

When you are installing system and get an error says “Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style” just as the following picture shows.

In this situation, you need to Convert GPT disk to MBR. To make this conversion, you can use Disk Management, the built-in tool in Windows. You can click My Computer>Manage>Disk Management to enter this tool. You can convert GPT to MBR with this tool on an empty hard disk, but if there are data on it, you should move them to another place or make a backup of them. Otherwise, all of them will be covered out. To avoid data transmission or backup, you can use partition software-AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional to Convert GPT to MBR. Before you do, you should make sure the motherboard of computer supports EFI/UEFI, because only in this situation system can boot from GPT disk normally.

If you get another error, which is similar with the one mentioned above and says “Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks” as the following picture shows.

As what I mentioned before, if your motherboard supports EFI/UEFI, the system can only boot from GPT disk, so if you are faced by this problem, you need to convert MBR to GPT. Disk Management also allows you to convert MBR to GPT on an empty disk. But if there are data on disk, use AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional to convert MBR to GPT and then you can try install system again.

Situation2:

Besides the two different errors mentioned above, you may meet another error saying “Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS. Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition is of an unrecognized type.”

Actually, NTFS and FAT are two kinds of files system. When you create a partition, you can choose one of them. But after you finish creating partition and plan to install system, you get the error during the installation; you can use AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional to Convert FAT to NTFS to solve the installation problem.

All the problem about windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space during installation can be solved by AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional. In additional, this software can also help PC or laptop users to convert primary partition to logical, convert dynamic disk to basic, allocate free space, make bootable CD and more useful features.
