Question & Answer

Two years ago, I bought a computer of windows server 2003 which has a total of 120GB. The OEM partition the hard disk into two drives, including 12GB in system (C) drive and more than 100GB in drive D. It has been working well for a long time, but now there is little free space in system drive so that my computer runs extremely slow. How can I extend system partition in Windows 2003?

  1. Clean junk files regularly, or uninstall the programs in drive C, and reinstall them in drive D.
  2.  Extend system partition in Windows server 2003 with Diskpart command tool.
  3.  Use a magic partition tool, AOMEI Partition Assistant.

About the first two methods, there are some limitations.

The method of cleaning junk files regularly, to a certain extent, can do some help on Windows 2003 extend partition. However, if you installed too many application programs, this means will have no effect. For the method of uninstalling the programs in drive C, and reinstalling them in drive D, it just cost you plenty of time and also, it might lead to data loss.

Then, it is the limitations of Windows 2003 extending partition with Diskpart.

  1. There must be an unallocated space right behind the system partition.
  2. The diskpart command can only be committed from the command line by using action command.

AOMEI Partition Assistant

All in all, the means mentioned above is either time-consuming or risky, so here I recommend another partition magic tool, AOMEI Partition Assistant, which can help you extend partition Windows 2003 easily.

You should firstly Download AOMEI Partition Assistant Server Edition , install it on your computer, and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant. In the upper-left area of the pop-up interface, there is an “Extend Partition Wizard” item. You can click it to extend partition without rebooting the computer.

Also, for the mission “windows 2003 extend partition”, you can commit it manually through several ways. Also, this partition tool has some other functions, such as, Resize Partition, Move Partition,Extend System Drive, Merge, Split Partitions, etc. The detailed operating steps you can go to
